The University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio was established in 1974, and today, serves as a national leader in cutting-edge medical technology. Other facilities such as the new Center for the Intrepid, a world-class physical rehabilitation center at Brooke Army Medical Center, serves military personnel who have been catastrophically disabled in military operations; and the Cancer Therapy and Research Center is the site of the world’s largest concentration of Phase I clinical trials for cancer drugs.
